The Albemarle Commission’s Community Development Program provides housing assistance to eligible low- and moderate-income households across our region, with a focus on helping residents remain safely and comfortably in their homes. Through this program, the Albemarle Commission administers several housing assistance initiatives designed to address critical housing needs and improve overall living conditions.

These initiatives include the Urgent Repair Program (URP), which addresses immediate health and safety concerns; the Essential Single-Family Rehabilitation Program (ESFR), which provides more comprehensive home repairs and rehabilitation; and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), which helps reduce energy costs and improve home energy efficiency. Together, these programs support vulnerable populations such as seniors, individuals with disabilities, and households experiencing financial hardship.

By working in partnership with local governments, contractors, and funding agencies, the Albemarle Commission’s Community Development Program helps strengthens communities and ensure access to safe, decent, and affordable housing throughout the region.
