Scuppernong Water Managment Study
The Albemarle Commission, in collaboration with Washington and Tyrrell Counties, has joined forces with various organizations to conduct a comprehensive study on flooding in the northern Albemarle-Pamlico peninsula. Our partnership with a diverse range of organizations brings together scientific expertise, local knowledge, and community engagement to ensure a well-rounded approach to this study. Duke Resilience Accelerator Grant
The Albemarle Commission was awarded a Duke Resilience Accelerator Grant to develop The Albemarle Stormwater, Water Quality, and Flooding Outreach Toolkit. This project proposes to develop an outreach toolkit of materials including templates for educational brochures and social media outreach that can be customized by each of the Albemarle Commission regions 10 member counties and 15 member municipalities. The areas of outreach and education will focus on stormwater, flooding, and water quality, and the materials will include content that helps to educate target audiences in the region on hazard impacts and educate them so they can make informed decisions, allowing for the development of resilient communities and economies.
Regional Project Development Specialist
The Regional Project Development Specialist position duties will include assisting local communities in the development of individual flood mitigation projects, securing voluntary homeowner participation, and providing administration of the projects. In the ACCOG, eligible counties are Dare, Tyrrell, Pasquotank and Hyde. The position is a full time temporary (2 year) position funded by NCDEM with pass through funds from FEMA.
